Hail damages IndiGo flight descending towards Hyderabad Airport
During its descent towards Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International (RGI) Airport, an IndiGo flight, which was flying from Ahmedabad to Hyderabad, encountered a severe hailstorm. Despite the challenging weather conditions, the flight, numbered 6E 6594, was able to land safely on runway 27L. Fortunately, no passengers or crew members were injured, but the nose and windshields of the aircraft sustained damage.
Following the incident, photographs of the aircraft's damaged nose and windshields became popular on various social media platforms. The hailstorm happened amid heavy rainfall and hailstones that have been pounding Hyderabad and other districts of Telangana in recent days, owing to western disturbances.
Hyderabad also experienced one of the rarest and most potent hailstorm events in many years.
