On Sunday, Indian cricket star Virat Kohli finally achieved his long-awaited 28th Test century, marking his first in the format since November 2019. Out of Kohli's 27 Test centuries, the most recent one was achieved in November 2019 during a day-night Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, it took more than three years and 42 innings for Kohli to reach his 28th Test century, which is also his 75th in his international cricket career. Kohli's century in Ahmedabad was completed in 241 balls, making it his second slowest century after his ton against England in the 2012/13 series, which came off 289 balls. It is worth noting that Kohli's recent Test century against Australia is his 8th against them, tying with Indian cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar for the joint second-most tons by an Indian player against the Australian team. The only Indian player with more centuries against Australia is Sachin Tendulkar.
