The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, got angry in court today and ordered senior advocate Vikas Singh to leave during an argument about the listing of a petition. Singh was pushing for a hearing on a petition by the Supreme Court Bar Association seeking that land allotted to the Supreme Court be used for a chamber block for lawyers. Justice Chandrachud became furious, shouting at Singh and telling him to leave the court. The Chief Justice later stated that he has never allowed himself to be browbeaten by anyone and would not do so in the final two years of his career. Senior lawyers Kapil Sibal and NK Kaul later apologised to the Chief Justice on behalf of the Bar.
