Five-Story building collapses in Lucknow, several trapped under debris
Lucknow: At least 12 residents were rescued and taken to hospitals after a five storey building collapsed in Lucknow on Tuesday evening. It is said that three people died and 15 families were trapped under the debris. Teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and the army worked throughout the night to remove debris and rescue those trapped.
Several nearby buildings also sustained damage, with cracks appearing in their structures. District Magistrate Suryapal Gangwar stated that 4 people are still missing and rescue efforts are ongoing. The cause of the collapse of the Aliyah Apartment in the Hazratganj area is currently unknown, but initial reports suggest that construction work was being done in the building's parking lot.
An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause. The Chief Minister has directed officials to provide proper medical treatment to the injured and has instructed hospitals to remain on alert.
