London's Soho neighborhood, known for its nightlife and entertainment options, is testing a new solution to the issue of public urination. The Westminster City Council is applying a special spray-on chemical, known as anti-pee paint, to the walls of the area. The chemical creates a powerful "surface protection" that provides a clear water-repellent barrier. When hit with urine, the barrier sprays back at the violator, providing an immediate and harsh punishment. The initiative is being implemented in response to complaints from over 3,000 Soho residents, as well as from workers and business owners. Nearly a dozen spots in Soho, including clubs, restaurants, theatres, and other entertainment venues, are being treated with the chemical. Contractors are also erecting signs at targeted locations, which read "This wall is not a urinal."
