The Nizam of Hyderabad, Prince Mukarram Jah, passed away in Turkey at the age of 89. He was the grandson of the last ruler of Hyderabad, Nizam Osman Ali Khan, and the 8th of the royal dynasty that came to power in 1724. He had been suffering from ailments for some time. In accordance with his wishes, his children will travel to Hyderabad with his remains on Tuesday. The body will be taken to the Chowmahalla Palace for rituals before being buried at the Asaf Jahi family tombs. Prince Mukarram Jah was anointed as Nizam VIII at the Chowmahalla Palace on April 6, 1967, chosen as successor by his grandfather Nizam Osman Ali Khan, bypassing his own sons.
