President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the broad plate mill facility of Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) on Tuesday. The state-owned maker of specialty metals and metal alloys installed a large plate mill at its Hyderabad facility with an estimated investment of Rs 500 crore for the rolling of slabs of different alloys. The facility will facilitate import alternatives while also accommodating the needs for specific steel plates for national strategic programmes. One of the few contemporary metalworking facilities in the world, MIDHANI is part of the Ministry of Defence and produces a variety of superalloys, titanium alloys, alloys, special steel, etc.
