At a programme in the Uppal constituency on Tuesday, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) members have launched protest against the mayor of Greater Hyderabad, Vijayalaxmi Gadwal. While she was laying the foundation stone for a few development projects in the Chilukanagar area, tension grew as the BRS party workers shouted "Mayor go back." They claimed that the Mayor was breaking protocol because Uppal MLA B. Subhas Reddy was not invited to the event. An angry mayor said, "Who is at responsible if he hasn't shown up even today?" When the MLA's supporters indicated that she could have called the MLA, she retaliated, ' I am Mayor' and "I don't do it."
