Delhi liquor scam : Lawyer comments over CBI notice to Kavitha under section 160 of CrPC
The Central Bureau of Investigation has given TRS MLC and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha a notice under Section 160 of the CrPC asking that she appear before it as a witness in the probe into the Delhi excise policy scam.
One of the lawyers responded to the section 160 of the CrPC by describing its legal implications. He stated that only those who reside in the jurisdiction or adjacent police limits are eligible to receive notices under Section 160. The attorney said. Under section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code, a police officer may call a witness if he believes the witness can shed light on the key issue in the case. However, the attorney said there was ambiguity in the summons since it was unclear where and when the witness had to appear.
