Marri Shashidhar Reddy, a seasoned Congressman from Telangana, joined the BJP on Friday and accused his former party of failing to rein in Telangana Rashtra Samithi's alleged misrule of the state. The senior leader claimed that the TRS is leading the "most corrupt" government while speaking on the occasion. He claimed that in the state, it is “Telangana first vs family first” and that the BJP can only teach the TRS its place." Shashidhar Reddy, a former minister in 1993's undivided Andhra Pradesh and current vice-chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority, stated he will work as a BJP activist and aid the party in forming the Telangana administration.
