The first female Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni, took the oath of office. in the presidential palace in front of President Sergio-Mattarella. In a coalition with Silvio Berlusconi's Forza Italia and Matteo Salvini's anti-immigrant League, Meloni, the head of the nationalist Brothers of Italy, raced to victory in an election last month. The 24 ministers of Meloni then took the oath. Six of the 24 ministers are female, while five are technocrats who are independent of any political party. Former European Central Bank president Mario Draghi's administration is replaced by that of Meloni. He was chosen in 2021 to serve as the coalition's pandemic leader.
