The Scottish-born actor passed away on Friday. He was best remembered for his roles as the Hogwarts groundskeeper Hagrid in the Potter movie series and as the criminal psychologist Dr. Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald in the 1990s TV crime thriller. Coltrane's appearances in all eight of the Potter movies may have contributed to his rise to fame. For his performance in Cracker, Coltrane received the best actor award at the British Academy Television Awards three times in a row. He was also given the OBE in the 2006 New Year's Honours list. J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series, tweeted a photo of Coltrane and the actor, along with the obituary: 'I'll never meet another person even close to Robbie. He was a rare individual with extraordinary skill.'
