For the first time, the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) is bringing eco-friendly air-conditioned buses on the Tirupati-Tirumala ghat road during the annual Brahmotsavams, which are scheduled to be held from September 27. It is good news for pilgrims to Tirumala. Ten electric AC buses were introduced into service between Tirupati and Tirumala in the first phase. On Monday, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit the holy city of Tirupati and inaugurate these buses. The state government chose to run electric bus services between Tirupati and Tirumala as part of its effort to provide a pollution-free environment at Tirumala, the holy pilgrimage site, and granted permission to APSRTC to operate 100 electric buses under the gross cost contract (GCC) mechanism. Recent trial runs of the bus by RTC to test various parameters were successful and determined to be satisfactory in all respects. These buses will seat 35 passengers in a 2x2 seating arrangement.
