Hyderabad: Creating a green channel, Heart transported through Metro from Nagole to Jubilee Hills Checkpost
On Monday, Hyderabad Metro Rail (HRM) set up a green channel to the medical team so that a beating heart could be transported around the city.
In the early hours of Monday, the Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills called the Metro Rail officials with an SOS request for help transferring a harvested heart to save a life. The HRM team quickly set up a special train to take the beating heart from Nagole to Jubilee Hills Check Post Metro Station and turned on a green channel to facilitate this.
Around 1:00 am, a group of medical professionals from the Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar transported the harvested heart to the Nagole Metro Station. In a matter of around 25 minutes, the HRM employees assisted the medical team in getting the live heart to the Jubilee Hills Check Post. At the metro rail station, the Apollo Jubilee Hills ambulance was waiting to pick up the live organ and the supporting medical staff.
L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, K V B Reddy, expressed happiness that Metro services were used for the benefit of humanity and said that they would continue to support such admirable endeavours in the future.
