According to BJP State President Somu Veerraju, the Union government will complete the Polavaram multipurpose irrigation project if the State government raises its hand and requests us to carry out the outstanding tasks. He attacked the current YSR Congress government and the previous Telugu Desam government when he arrived in Eluru as part of the BJP's Prajaporu Yatra. Veerraju criticised them for using funds provided by the Center to establish welfare programmes under their own names. He further claimed that the YSRCP government was misusing the funds that were made available for various projects. He sought the release of a white paper outlining the sums provided to local organizations.
