Anger and calls for action have been raised in response to a video purporting to show an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA in Punjab being slapped by her husband in public. The Punjab MLA, Baljinder Kaur, is shown in the video purportedly getting smacked by her husband, an AAP leader. The husband, Sukhraj Singh, suddenly slapped Ms. Kaur in a fit of rage as the two are seen arguing in front of a few other people. At that moment, he is being dragged away by others. A CCTV camera located close to the couple's house in Talwandi Sabo captured the incident. The Punjab State Women's Commission reportedly intervened to take a suo motu notice of the occurrence, asserting that it is unsettling that a woman who raises public issues endures harassment at home despite Baljinder Kaur not having made a formal complaint.
