The massive "Namaste Trump" event was organised by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre in 2020 to give a resounding welcome to the then-US President Donald Trump on his first visit to India. A total of about Rs 38 lakh was spent during the former US President's 36-hour visit.
According to the External Affairs Ministry's statement to the Central Information Commission, the Center spent the sum on lodging, meals, logistics, etc.
