Chief Justice N.V. Ramana criticised social media and electronic 'trials' on Saturday, calling them 'kangaroo courts' that sometimes make decisions that even seasoned judges find challenging. Speaking at the National University of Study & Research in Law, Ranchi's first "Justice S. B. Sinha Memorial Lecture" on "Life of a Judge," the Chief Justice disclosed that he had wanted to enter politics during his days as a lawyer, but fate had other plans. He emphasised the significance of judicial review in maintaining the Constitution. Speaking out against the prejudicial opinions shared on social media, he declared: 'Ill-informed and agenda-driven debates on topics regarding justice delivery are proving to be damaging to the health of democracy.' He continued by stating that the media's biassed viewpoints are having an impact on society, undermining democracy, and damaging the system.
