There were two candidates running for British Prime Minister who were of Indian descent. After the nomination process, former finance minister Rishi Sunak and attorney general Suela Braverman were included to the final list. Home Minister Priti Patel, a prominent figure of Indian descent, has already declared her absence from the race. Former Chancellor Sunak and Braverman are two of the eight candidates running for prime minister. On this list are former ministers Kemi Badenoch and Jeremy Hunt, as well as foreign secretary Liz Truss, new Chancellor Nadeem Jahawa, Trade Minister Penny Mordaunt, and another leader Tom Tugendhat. According to the reports, Sunak, who formally launched his campaign earlier, continues to be the frontrunner in the race with reportedly the highest number of MPs supporting him.
