In three sets, Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina defeated Tunisia's Ons Jabeur to win the women's singles title at Wimbledon and win a historic first Grand Slam trophy for herself and her nation. In a final between two amateurs, Rybakina defeated third seed Jabeur with a masterful comeback after dropping the first set, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Early in the second set, the 23-year-old Rybakina, who was born in Moscow, broke Jabeur. She later defeated Jabeur's serve once again to force a third set. Rybakina, who won the semifinal match against former champion Simona Halep, made all three saves en route to taking the set, the match, and the championship.
