The judiciary is only accountable to the Constitution, according to India's Chief Justice N V Ramana. The CJI has appealed for unity in the face of growing racial tensions while speaking at an event in the US. He claimed that the opposition wants the judiciary to promote its viewpoints and causes, whereas the party in power wants the court to support every decision made by the government. 'Inclusivity builds societal unity, which is essential for peace and advancement. We must put our attention on shared concerns. Not on those who split us apart. We cannot allow trivial, restricted, and polarising concerns to control interpersonal and societal interactions in the twenty-first century. To keep our attention on human development, we must rise above any contentious concerns. A narrow perspective is a calamity waiting to happen,' Chief Justice Ramana observed.
