Several million tonnes of steel trash produced by various plants across the country each year that would otherwise end up in landfills may soon find some use - to create roads that not only employ an unwanted resource but are also more durable. According to reports, every year, 20 million tonnes of steel waste are generated in the country by various steel plants. It will be 45 million tonnes per year by 2030. Mountains of steel garbage have formed outside the steel factories as a result of the situation. However, this garbage is now being utilised. A road was built in Gujarat from the trash of a Surat plant. VK Saraswat, a member of the NITI Aayog, inspected this route. Mukesh Singh Sengar of NDTV has reported from Surat.
