KTR supports Hyderabad police decision on accused in minor girl case
On Thursday, Telangana Information and Technology Minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) praised the Telangana police for filing an appeal with the Juvenile Board requesting an exemption from having the juveniles captured in the Jubilee Hills gang-r*pe case tried as adults.
"If you're old enough to commit a horrific crime like r*pe, you should be punished like an adult, not a child," he tweeted, tagging a news item on the subject.
According to reports, the Hyderabad City Police Department plans to apply to the Juvenile Justice Board for exemptions. On May 28, five people, including four juveniles, were accused of gang-r*ping a 17-year-old monor girl in a car in Jubilee Hills. The sixth juvenile was arrested for infringing on the victim's modesty and violating other sections of the POCSO Act.
