The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has directed that two perfume company adverts that supposedly promoted r*pe culture be removed from Twitter and YouTube. The Television channel where the advertisement aired has also removed it. Several users on social media criticised the ads of being provocative and of trivialising se*ual violence against women. This follows a letter from Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur over the brand's marketing. She has requested that the Centre take immediate action in this regard.
