Elections were set for June 10 to fill 57 Rajya Sabha(the Upper House of Parliament) seats from 15 states that will become vacant due to the retirement of members on various dates between June and August. The deadline for withdrawing from consideration was Friday. As part of the nomination and withdrawal procedure, forty-one Rajya Sabha candidates were unanimously chosen across India. All 11 candidates from Uttar Pradesh, six from Tamil Nadu, five from Bihar, four from Andhra Pradesh, three each from Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, two each from Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Telangana, and Jharkhand, and one from Uttarakhand won without a contest. The ruling YSR Congress's V Vijayasai Reddy, Beeda Masthan Rao, R Krishnaiah, and S Niranjan Reddy were likewise elected unopposed in Andhra Pradesh. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRStwo )'s Rajya Sabha candidates, Dr B Pardhasaradhi Reddy and D Damodar Rao, have been declared unanimously elected.
