Almost everyone enjoys potato-based meals. The majority of people enjoy preparing the numerous curries prepared with potatoes. However, many potato fans are unaware of this. In Peru, there is a day dedicated to potatoes. On that day, National Potato Day is observed, and celebrations are organised. On May 30, Peru celebrates National Potato Day, a day set aside each year to honour and commemorate one of the world's most important food crops, which originated in Peru. Potatoes were a staple food and a key source of energy for early Peruvian societies. There are around 3,800 native potato varieties available. National Potato Day was first observed in 2005. Since then, on May 30 (and around this date), there have been numerous celebrations, festivals, and fairs across the country that provide Peruvian cuisine and drinks created with potatoes. On this day, people enjoy participating in a variety of recreational activities.
