A Thane court sentenced Marathi actor Ketaki Chitale to police jail until May 18 after she was arrested by Thane police for allegedly uploading an objectionable Facebook post about Nationalist Congress Party [NCP] president Sharad Pawar. On Sunday, the actress appeared in court. Chitale, 29, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sharing a post on her Facebook profile. Chitale's message was written in verse, seemingly by someone else. In an apparent allusion to Pawar, it contained offensive language such as "hell is waiting" and "you dislike Brahmins." The NCP has called for harsh action against the actress. On Sunday, enraged NCP supporters chanted slogans outside the court and flung eggs at her as she was being brought out of the hospital.
