Vasireddy Padma, chairperson of the women's commission, said the death sentence was appropriate for the accused in the Ramya murder case. She said there was jubilation among women's groups over the verdict. She said the conviction of the accused in nine months was a record and the trial was conducted by a special court in the spirit of the Disha Act. Vasireddy Padma said that the police had also conducted a speedy investigation and the verdict was a milestone in the case of attacks on women and that the police had done a very good job.
