Alliance Air, a state-owned airline, became the country's first commercial airline to use an Indian-made aircraft for civil operations. This will improve aviation connection between the North Eastern Region and the rest of the country. As part of it, the first 'Made in India' civil Dornier aircraft will take to the skies today, providing aviation connection to Arunachal Pradesh's isolated towns. The 17-seater Dornier aircraft would begin service linking five rural Arunachal Pradesh communities to Assam's Dibrugarh. Dornier 228 planes were formerly only employed by the armed forces. According to the reports, regular flight operations on the Dibrugarh-Pasighat-Lilabari-Dibrugarh route are set to begin on April 18, 2022.
