Kakinada Woman Attacked with Acid by Kuwait Employers, Stranded in Hospital
A woman from Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district, who had gone to Kuwait for work following her husband's death, was allegedly attacked with acid by her employers and admitted to a psychiatric hospital. The incident came to light after hospital staff contacted her family members.

Kakada Laxmi, a resident of Ponnada in U. Kothapalli Mandal of Kakinada district, decided to go abroad to support her livelihood after the death of her husband. Around two months ago, she travelled to Kuwait through an agent from the YSR district. According to the agreement, she was to be employed in a household for a monthly wage of 150 Kuwaiti Dinars.

However, after starting her job, she was paid only 100 Dinars. When Kakada Laxmi questioned her employers about the discrepancy, they allegedly became enraged and poured acid on her. Following the attack, they admitted her to a psychiatric hospital.

The incident reportedly occurred ten days ago. Once she regained consciousness and some strength, Kakada Laxmi narrated the ordeal to the hospital staff. The staff then helped her file a complaint at a local police station and also informed her family.

Kakada Laxmi revealed that her passport is still in the possession of her employers, who are now pressuring her to withdraw the case in exchange for returning the document. She remains confined to the hospital, unsure of what steps to take next.

Her family members stated that when they contacted the agent who had arranged her employment in Kuwait, he demanded money to intervene or provide assistance. Expressing their anguish, they appealed to the government to take immediate action and ensure the safe return and rehabilitation of Kakada Laxmi.
