Air India Explains Why Flight AI 126 Had to Turn Back
Air India has issued a clarification regarding the return of its Chicago-Delhi flight after nearly ten hours of travel. The airline stated that flight AI 126, which departed from Chicago for Delhi on March 6, encountered technical issues with its onboard toilets.

According to Air India, the aircraft had a total of 12 toilets, but the crew discovered that eight of them were non-functional. The airline explained that plastic bags and clothing obstructed the toilet pipes, rendering them unusable. As a result, passengers faced difficulties during the journey.

At the time of the issue, the aircraft was flying over the Atlantic Ocean. Air India attempted to land in European cities, but due to nighttime restrictions at those airports, landing was not permitted. Consequently, the flight was redirected back to Chicago.

The airline emphasized that the decision was made in the best interest of the passengers. Following the flight’s return, Air India arranged alternative travel options for the affected passengers.
