Amaravati: In Andhra Pradesh, the general elections are scheduled to take place on the 13th of this month. The polling is set to be conducted from 7 AM to 5 PM. Against this backdrop, TDP senior leader Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar has written to the Election Commission requesting an extension of the polling hours.

Considering the intense heat in the state, he has petitioned the Commission to extend the polling time by an additional hour. He requested that voting continue for another hour past 5 PM, as stated in his letter.

Meanwhile, following requests from various parties in Telangana, the Election Commission has already extended the polling hours by an hour. The Lok Sabha elections are also due to be held in Telangana on May 13.

In Telangana, elections are scheduled for all 17 Lok Sabha seats, but the extended polling time will only apply in 12 full Lok Sabha constituencies and in some Assembly constituencies within the remaining five Lok Sabha seats.
