Potential Rail Disaster Averted Through Prompt Action

A major disaster was averted thanks to the vigilance of railway officials when a train on the same track at a station sped through a red signal at 80 km/h. The officials immediately cut off the power supply, bringing the train to a halt, which led to a collective sigh of relief. The incident took place in the Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh.

The Humsafar Express was halted at the Bhadan station on the Delhi-Howrah route when the Shiv Ganga Express, driven by locomotive pilots who missed the red signal, approached at a high speed of 80 km/h. The alert officials quickly acted and cut off the electricity supply, stopping the train, which had already covered a kilometer.

Passengers and onlookers were relieved when the train stopped, acknowledging that a significant accident could have occurred if the officials had not been vigilant. The negligence of the two locomotive pilots involved is under investigation. Although there is speculation that fog might have obscured the signal, inquiries are focusing on why the pilots were not more cautious. Medical examinations have been conducted on them.
