6 students from Vijayawada drown at Suryalanka beach, 3 bodies retrieved
Bapatla, October 4: Six students belonging to Singh Nagar locality in Vijayawada drowned while they were bathing in the sea at Suryalanka beach on Tuesday. On receiving information, the police personnel reached the spot and pressed expert swimmers and washermen to search for them.
Bapatla Superintendent of Police (SP) Vakul Jindal visited the Suryalanka beach and enquired with police officials about the incident. Speaking to the media, he expressed grief over students drowning in the sea. “So far, three bodies were retrieved from the sea and search operations are going on,” he mentioned.
The SP adviced tourists and local people visiting the beach to be cautious. He said students venturing into the sea crossing danger mark level are pulled deeper into the waters by strong waves. The police identified deceased as Siddu, Abhi and Sai Madhu. In the past, several incidents of students drowning in the sea at Suryalanka beach were reported.
