Four drown as boat overturns in Krishna River in Andhra Pradesh
The incident occurred at Konur in the Acchampet mandal of the district.
According to police, 10 people belonging to the same family travelled in a boat to attend a family function at Konur. While returning home, the boat overturned, and all of them started drowning.
While six of them were rescued by the villagers, four people went missing.
Police, with the help of villagers, undertook a search operation. They later found the bodies of all four missing persons.
The deceased were identified as Gandham Sandhya (9), Gandham Saini (10), Batthula Karthik (12) and Konatha Chaitanya (28).
Meanwhile, three people were killed in a road accident that took place in Siddipet district of Telangana on Sunday.
According to police, a speeding car lost control while trying to avoid an elderly woman who was crossing the road in Duddeda village of Kondapak mandal.
The vehicle swerved off the road and crashed into a roadside house.
Due to the accident, three people were killed on the spot. Elderly woman Radhavva, who was crossing the road, another woman, Lakshmi and a young girl, Sahasra, who were sitting on the veranda of the house, were killed.
The person driving the car and others seated in the vehicle ran away after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind. Police registered a case and launched an investigation to trace the owner of the car.
Meanwhile, 20 bus passengers from Andhra Pradesh were injured in another accident which occurred near Bengaluru in Karnataka.
According to reports reaching Amaravati, the bus belonging to Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) rammed into a stationary truck. The bus, carrying 40 passengers, was heading to Bengaluru from Pamuru in the Markapuram district of Andhra Pradesh.
Ten of the injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
