CMDs of NALCO, MIDHANI meet CM Jagan, agree to set up Rs 5,500 crore aluminium plant in AP

Amaravati, April 26: National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Sridhar Patra and Mishra Dhatu Nigam Ltd (MIDHANI) CMD CMD Sanjay Kumar Jha met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy at latter’s camp office on Monday and informed him that NALCO and MIDHANI have formed a joint venture firm called Utkarsha Aluminium Dhatu Nigam Ltd (UADNL) for setting up a high-end aluminium alloy manufacturing plant at Bodduvaripalem of Kodavaluru mandal in Nellore district.
 
Both CMDs have told the CM that Rs 5,500 crore would be invested for establishing the plant which will have capacity of 60,000 tonnes per annum and will generate employment to 750 to 1,000 directly and indirectly. “The facility will become operational after two-and-a-half years,” they mentioned.
 
In the meeting, Patra and Jha have brought to the notice of the CM about obstacles in installation of infrastructure. Jagan directed officials concerned to resolve the issues raised by CMDs at the earliest. On the suggestion of the CM, both have agreed to set up a MSME park to meet the needs of defence equipment manufacturers.
