42 students fall ill after having mid-day meal

Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh):  At least 42 students have fallen ill after having lunch at Vishwanagar Government School in Nandyal town of Kurnool district. In all, 92 students had lunch this afternoon. Immediately many of them vomited. They were rushed to the Nandyal Government Hospital.

Meanwhile, DEO Ranga Reddy, who received information about the incident, rushed to the hospital and enquired about the health of students. He later said the children had fallen ill after being served spoiled eggs. He said action would be taken against those responsible.

On the other hand, the superintendent of the hospital said that the students came to the hospital with vomiting and reportedly consumed eggs and sambar. Allaying the fears of parents, he said, "We are providing treatment to students and we will discharge them after their condition improves."
