Rajnath Assures To Expedite Greyhounds,RAF,CRPF Proposals of AP

Vijayawada: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has assured to set up a Greyhounds training unit, CRPF and Rapid Action Force in Andhra Pradesh

Speaking after laying foundation for 10th battalion of NDRF at Kondapavuluru village in Krishna district today, the Home Minister said the NDRF received international acclaim by taking part in rescue operations during earth quake in Nepal and Japan. He said the Japan ministers praised the role of NDRF for not only rescuing people alive but also showing same spirit to unearth the bodies from the debris during earth quake. The humanitarian approach in NDRF operations impressed the foreign leaders, he said. The Union Minister said the NDRF should adopt pro active role and further improve its performance.

Responding to the plea of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for sanctioning of a greyhounds training unit, RAF and CRPF battalion, the Union Minister promised to expedite the proposals. He said that the CRPF force was sanctioned to AP, but was delayed due to elections in some of the northern States.

Earlier, addressing the meeting Union Minister of  Information and Broadcasting M Venkaiah Naidu said that the central government has been giving priority for Andhra Pradesh as it suffered loss due to bifurcation of united AP State. He showered praises on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for his relentless efforts for the development of the State. He said Modi government has been giving top priority for Polavaram project.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh was more prone to natural calamities, including cyclones. He said greyhounds training unit should be sanctioned to the State. He said the state government was ready to allot 60 acres of land at Visakhapatnam to set up Rapid Action Force unit. He said that the Central government should give priority to sanction several pending units for the State.
