Ashley J Tellis, New US Ambassador To India?!

New Delhi: Due to change of guard, United States Ambassador to India Richard Verma is likely to end his assignment. He is a political employee of President Obama administration. President elect Trump sets to take charge on January 20 and it is expected that Ashley J Tellis will replace Richard Verma.

Having grown up in India, Ashley J Tellis was one of the key persons who was intimately involved in negotiating the crucial civil nuclear agreement between India and US.

Tellis, graduate from Bombay University has held various key strategic positions in the United States Govt. Which includes senior adviser to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs; Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for the National Security Council for Strategic Planning and Southwest Asia; senior adviser to the US Ambassador to India.
