Roja seeks SC directive to High Court on election case

RK Roja, a YCP leader, has again knocked at the doors of the Supreme Court. This time, her appeal to the Supreme Court was to ask for the quashing of a petition filed against her election from the Nagari constituency. The petition in the Andhra Pradesh High Court argued that her election from Nagari was invalid. Roja, who was served notice in connection with the petition, urged the High Court to quash the petition. At this, the High Court decided to take both the petitions together for hearing. Alerted by the High Court decision, Roja moved the Supreme Court on the ground that the simultaneous hearing of two petitions was against the law. She then moved the Supreme Court in support of her argument. She appealed to the Apex Court to direct the High Court to hear the two petitions separately. The Supreme Court decided to hear her petition towards the end of June. Roja has got no respite in connection with her suspension from the AP Assembly for one year despite moving the Supreme Court. Now the fresh petition in the High Court questioning her election doubly increase her legal woes.
