Students roughed up for singing national anthem

Srinagar, Aug 19: Pupils have no right to sing our national anthem and song in Jammu and Kashmir. In a bizarre incident, teachers roughed up students for singing national anthem on the occasion of Independence Day. The teachers warned the students that their admissions will be cancelled if they sing Jana Gana Mana and Vande Mataram. The incident occurred at a Higher Secondary school at Hodwa in the state. The students were not allowed to sing national anthem for the past two years. This year, the students mustered courage and sang national anthem on the occasion of Independence Day. The teachers stopped the students from singing the anthem and roughed up them. Infuriated by this, the students staged a protest at Doda. The students withdrew their protest after officials assured that action would be initiated on the teachers.
