India, Pakistan Agree to Ceasefire; U.S. Credits Diplomatic Push
In a significant development amid decades of tension between India and Pakistan, the United States has announced that both nations have agreed to an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire. Reports suggest that the United States played a pivotal mediating role in facilitating this agreement, which is being viewed by international experts as a potential gateway to future dialogue between the two countries.

U.S. President Donald Trump first revealed this breakthrough on his social media platform, Truth Social. “I am pleased to announce that following extensive overnight discussions, India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate full ceasefire, thanks to U.S. mediation. Congratulations to both nations for demonstrating great wisdom and intelligence. Thank you for focusing on this matter!” said Donald Trump.

Shortly afterward, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar confirmed the news, stating that India and Pakistan had indeed agreed to an immediate ceasefire. “Pakistan has always worked for peace and security in the region without compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Ishaq Dar.

Further clarifying the situation, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also made a statement regarding the development. He revealed on the platform X that in addition to the ceasefire, both countries had agreed to initiate discussions on a range of broader issues at a neutral venue. Marco Rubio stated that he and Senator J.D. Vance had engaged in high-level talks over the past 48 hours with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif for their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace,” Rubio wrote.

However, official announcements from both India and Pakistan are still awaited regarding the implementation of this agreement and subsequent developments.
