NGT order: Ploy to stop Yadadri power plant construction, says Jagadish Reddy

Suryapet, October 6: Telangana Minister for Energy G. Jagadish Reddy suspected a ploy to stop construction of the 4,000-MW Yadadri Thermal Power Plant (YTPP) at Veerlapalem in Nalgonda district.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday, he said the Telangana government started YTPP works after getting required environmental clearances. Terming the National Green Tribunal (NGT) order as unilateral, the minister stated that it would be a great loss to the nation by stalling power plant works.

“It is not right to deliver such a judgement when thousands of crores were already spent on YTPP construction,” he said and asked as to how a Mumbai-based organisation raise an objection in the NGT on power plant constructed in Telangana. He recalled that the NGT struck down petition filed by same firm in the past. Further, he mentioned that the Telangana government would file a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging the NGT order.
