Bhadrachalam safe because of karakatta constructed by me: Chandrababu

Bhadradri Kothagudem, July 29: “I constructed karkatta (flood bank) to protect Bhadrachalam from Godavari floods on Lord’s instruction twenty years ago when I was TDP general secretary,” said TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday after offering prayers at Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple. He also inspected karakatta and interacted with flood victims.

Addressing a gathering, Chandrababu stated that Bhadrachalam town was safe in recent floods because of karakatta constructed by him with the financial assistance from World Bank. He demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government should construct flood banks for five villages close to Bhadrachalam.

Earlier, Naidu held a meeting with the TDP leaders of combined Khammam district and told them that party will become strong in Telangana. He gave a call to the TDP functionaries to strive hard for making success of Khammam public meeting to be held in September. “Erstwhile Khammam district is stronghold of TDP,” he added.
