Objections from Telangana will not deter Polavaram completion: GVL

Delhi, July 21: BJP Rajya Sabha member GVL Narasimha Rao on Thursday said that the Telangana had accepted construction of Polavaram project across Godavari river in Andhra Pradesh during bifurcation of combined Telugu state with AP Reorganisation Act coming into force.

Speaking to the media, the MP stated that they will consider remarks of Telangana ministers as political comments regarding submergence of Bhadrachalam with the increase of Polavaram height. “The Centre will complete construction of Polavaram Project despite objections raised by Telangana government,” he mentioned.

GVL said that the Telangana ministers will become responsible for making several issues related to bifurcation controversy if they try to politicise Polavaram backwater. He criticised political parties belonging to Andhra Pradesh for bringing Special Category Status (SC) to fore for their existence. The BJP-led NDA government once again made it clear in the Parliament that SCS promised to truncated state of AP during bifurcation is a closed chapter.
