Hyderabad Commissionerate Undergoes Key Changes: Several Police Stations Renamed

Significant administrative changes have taken place within the jurisdiction of the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate to improve governance and ensure better clarity for the public. As part of these reforms, several police stations have been renamed and a new police station has been established. Simultaneously, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand issued orders transferring a large number of Circle Inspectors (CIs) across the Commissionerate.

In a statement, Police Commissioner C.V. Anand explained that certain police stations and divisions have been renamed to reflect the names of prominent localities in the city. According to the statement, the police station previously known as Secretariat Police Station has been renamed as “Lake Police Station.” Likewise, Humayunnagar Police Station has been renamed as “Mehdipatnam Police Station,” and Shahinayatgunj Police Station has been renamed as “Goshamahal Police Station.” Additionally, a new Law and Order Police Station has been established in the Tolichowki area, designated as the 72nd Law and Order Police Station.

C.V. Anand stated that this reorganization of police stations in the Hyderabad Commissionerate is taking place after nearly 35 years. Until now, the city had 71 Law and Order police stations and 31 Traffic police stations. He noted that over the past two years, there had been several issues related to jurisdiction boundaries of police stations, leading to confusion among the public, particularly concerning Law and Order and Traffic stations. In response, a comprehensive report was submitted to the government, which approved the proposed changes. He added that full details regarding the police stations and their respective jurisdictions would soon be made available on the official Hyderabad City Police website.

A large-scale administrative reshuffle has also been implemented within the Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, with orders issued for the transfer of 146 Circle Inspectors. These transfers affect officers serving in the Law and Order, Traffic, and other departments. It is reported that the transfers are part of broader efforts to enhance administrative efficiency across the Commissionerate.
