Nani responds to Salman Khan’s remarks about South Indian audiences

Natural Star Nani stated that Hindi films have always been appreciated across the country and noted that Salman Khan has a massive fan following in South India. He made these remarks in the context of a recent controversy surrounding comments made by Salman Khan about South Indian audiences.

While promoting his film Sikandar, Salman Khan had remarked that although South Indian fans express their affection by shouting “Bhai Bhai” when they see him on the streets, that love does not translate to the theatres. These comments sparked debate and drew attention across media platforms.

Nani dismissed Salman Khan’s remarks, suggesting that South Indian films are gaining global recognition. However, he emphasized that well before this recognition, South Indian audiences had shown great admiration for Hindi films. “For many decades, we have cherished Bollywood cinema,” said Nani.

He recalled that several films starring Amitabh Bachchan were enormous successes in South India. Nani also mentioned that movies such as Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Toh Pagal Hai have given South Indian audiences many fond memories. He added that Salman Khan’s film Hum Aapke Hain Koun is one of his personal favorites, and noted that the song “Didi Tera Deewana” from that movie is commonly played at weddings.

“Perhaps we have misunderstood Salman’s comments,” said Nani, reflecting on the context and potential misinterpretation of the actor’s statements.
