Purandeswari Demands Apology from Jagan for Police Comments

A wave of criticism has emerged over the remarks made by YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy during his visit to Ramagiri in the Raptadu constituency. Addressing a public meeting, Jagan Mohan Reddy made a controversial statement, threatening to strip police officers of their uniforms.

His comments drew immediate condemnation from various quarters, including the Andhra Pradesh Police Officers Association, which objected strongly and demanded an apology from Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Daggubati Purandeswari also criticized Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks. She stated that his comment—threatening to strip and beat officers who are regarded as the “fourth lion” of democracy—was deeply objectionable. “We condemn the remarks made by Jagan Mohan Reddy against the police,” said Purandeswari.

She further alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy made his statement without any discretion, even though the Superintendent of Police for Sri Sathya Sai district is a woman. Purandeswari emphasized that nearly 5,000 women serve in the police force and that Jagan Mohan Reddy should acknowledge this fact.

She said the comments made by Jagan Mohan Reddy were demeaning to the entire police department and that it was inappropriate for someone who had served as Chief Minister to speak in such a manner. Purandeswari demanded that Jagan Mohan Reddy issue a formal apology to the police force.
