Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the book launch of "World History" by former minister Daggubati Venkateswara Rao in Visakhapatnam.
Visakhapatnam, March 6:- Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu attended the book launch of World History, authored by former Minister and MP Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, at GITAM University, Visakhapatnam.
The Chief Minister said that writing a book in Telugu covering thousands of years of human evolution and world history is an incredible effort. He stated that history is something everyone should read and emphasised that he never expected Daggubati Venkateswara Rao to write a book. Despite not being a professional writer, Venkateswara Rao had written a book in a unique way, he said.
The Chief Minister noted that every home and library should have a copy of World History and mentioned that he would read it completely when he gets the time. He said that the book covered various aspects like ancient traditions, food habits, and agriculture. He highlighted that writing a book requires deep research and dedication. The Chief Minister added that Venkateswara Rao had discussed topics such as wars, the rise and fall of empires, religious dominance, the division of continents, slavery, and development, leaving no aspect untouched.
He further said that the book also explained language, arts, architecture, social justice, land reforms, monarchy, and governance in Andhra Pradesh. The Chief Minister stated that the book even predicted future technological advancements. He congratulated Venkateswara Rao for writing such a valuable book and said that the book launch event was a warm and intellectual gathering. He also expressed pride that someone from his family had conducted in-depth research and contributed to society through literature.
The Chief Minister described Daggubati Venkateswara Rao as a distinguished member of his family who thought deeply about every subject. He recalled that both of them had learned valuable lessons from NTR, who had inspired them. He added that they had carried out responsibilities assigned by NTR with dedication.
The Chief Minister stated that Venkateswara Rao, who is a doctor by profession, chose to serve as a minister instead of practicing medicine. He recalled that he had served as an MLA five times, as a minister, and as a Member of Parliament. He remarked that while many people aspire to travel, very few consider writing a book.
Speaking about Venkateswara Rao’s personal interests, the Chief Minister said that he remained relaxed and jovial. He recalled a recent conversation where he asked how he spent his time happily. “In response, Venkateswara Rao had mentioned that he plays badminton in the morning, spends time with children, talks to friends, and tells stories to kids in the evening before sleeping peacefully,” he said. The Chief Minister humorously added that Venkateswara Rao also mentioned playing cards occasionally.
The Chief Minister noted that Venkateswara Rao had written five books so far. He said that the first book was Some Truths in History, followed by History of Telugu People – Separation Movements, World Philosophy and Leadership, and Governance Systems of World Nations. He added that World History was his latest work.
Venkaiah Naidu’s Leadership and Growth
The Chief Minister recalled that both he and Venkaiah Naidu were elected as MLAs for the first time in 1978. He stated that Venkaiah Naidu’s energy had not diminished over the years and that his wit had only sharpened. He added that Venkaiah Naidu always spoke in pure Telugu and had risen step by step from a humble family background to become the Vice President of India.
He mentioned that at one point, there was an attempt to demolish GITAM University by the erstwhile government. He recalled a conversation with MVVS Murthy, who told him that he had established GITAM University after his son was denied admission to a college, as he wanted to create a great educational institution.
India’s Economic Progress and AP’s Growth
The Chief Minister stated that economic reforms began in 1991 under former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. He noted that earlier, people used to say "America is the best," but now they acknowledge that "Indians are the best." He highlighted that Telugu people had been at the forefront of this transformation.
He asserted that if people work hard with focus, Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and Swarna Andhra (Golden Andhra) would become realities. The Chief Minister said he would not let his self-confidence waver. He mentioned that Venkaiah Naidu had once commented that he was overconfident, but he clarified that it was not just confidence—it was strong belief. He added that when Prime Minister Modi is striving to make India the largest economy, his dream is to see Telugu people lead the way.
Support for Andhra Pradesh’s Development
The Chief Minister said that women are more hardworking than men and praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for her dedication. He noted that she was born into an ordinary family and had risen step by step in the BJP. He recalled that in 2014, she was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Andhra Pradesh and took on ministerial responsibilities.
He stated that she tirelessly worked towards Prime Minister Modi’s vision and has presented the Union Budget eight times consecutively. He pointed out that in 2014, India’s economy was ranked 10th in the world and had now moved up to the 5th position, with expectations of reaching 3rd place soon.
The Chief Minister acknowledged that Andhra Pradesh had once been in a critical state and that the central government’s support had helped it recover. However, he noted that further efforts were needed for full recovery. He underlined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman continue to support Andhra Pradesh’s development.
