Major Textile Firms Eye Andhra Pradesh for Investments, Says Minister Savitha

Andhra Pradesh Handlooms and Textiles Minister S. Savitha announced that five companies have shown interest in establishing industries in the state, with plans to invest ₹2,000 crore in the textile sector. She stated that agreements (MoUs) with these companies would be signed soon, and the investments are expected to generate employment opportunities for 15,000 people.

On Monday, Minister Savitha participated in the second day of the International Bharat Tex 2025 Exhibition in New Delhi, where she engaged with several domestic and international investors. She highlighted the initiatives taken under Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s leadership to promote industrial development and explained the opportunities available in the state's textile sector.

She noted that discussions with company representatives were productive, leading organizations such as Advanced Textiles Association, ITMF, Moscow Chambers of Commerce, and two other firms to express their willingness to invest in Andhra Pradesh. Additionally, representatives from Karnataka showed interest in investing in Emmiganoor Textile Park, while Guntur Textile Park from Andhra Pradesh agreed to set up a textile warehouse in Russia.

Minister Savitha described the Bharat Tex 2025 International Exhibition, held from February 14 for four days in New Delhi, as a success, with participation from delegates representing 126 countries. She stated that the event opened new opportunities for investments in the textile sector and boosted marketing prospects for handloom products.

Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she mentioned his statement, "Khadi is a nation... Khadi is becoming fashion," and said it served as an inspiration for the textile sector. She emphasized that after agriculture, the textile industry is the second-largest employment generator in the country.

Building on the momentum from Bharat Tex, Minister Savitha announced plans to organize a textile investment summit in Andhra Pradesh to attract further investments. She reiterated that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is prioritizing the development of the textile industry by ensuring a favorable investment environment with incentives and infrastructural support. She also pointed out that several major companies have already set up operations in Andhra Pradesh.

The event was attended by AP Handlooms and Textiles Commissioner Rekha Rani, APCO Managing Director Pavanamurthy, and other officials.
